Are you new to the dog show world? This seminar provides foundation skills to help you show your dog to its best advantage. This class is limited to 6 participants and will focus primarily on handling and presentation skills rather than training.
Seminar will cover: - The building blocks of showing: Baiting, Gaiting & Stacking - Ring Procedure, Rules, etc. - Simple tricks for maximizing your time in the ring - Tips on how to look, feel and act like a pro!

If you’ve got the basics down, but want to work on refining presentation of your dogs, this seminar is for you.
Seminar will cover:
Painting a picture
Strategic ring use
Good posture (yours and your dogs)
Baiting Math – it’s all about the angles
Defensive handling
Our primary focus will be on honing your handling and presentation skills rather than training, though some individual troubleshooting may be available depending on time.

Training and exhibiting small dogs can be challenging, but making your dog comfortable and happy on the table is achievable and fun. This class focuses not just on the work you do on the table, but the training you do in advance to build a confident foundation.
Seminar will cover: - Confidence-building games and exercises - Increasing focus and concentration - How to start new puppies off on the right foot - Improving general handling and presentation skills - One-on-one troubleshooting
*Please bring a grooming table that is stable and steady. No “ringside” tables.
Things to Bring
More than one dog (if you have them!). We will take frequent breaks, but 2 1/2 hours is a long time for one dog to work, focus and concentrate. Feel free to bring an extra to spread the love. Just be sure to bring an individual crate for each dog. No strollers or exercise pens permitted.
Bring a phone capable of recording small video clips.
Wear clothing with pockets.
Prepare a large quantity and variety of treats (at least 3 types of bait required). Suggestions include hot dogs, frozen meatballs, cheese, chicken or liver. Please limit participating dogs to a very small morning meal on the day of the seminar.
Bring a bowl and water for your dog and snacks for yourself!
Pack all of your dogs' favourite things, including toys, blankets, leashes and collars.
About the Presenter
Amanda Kelly is a long-time exhibitor, having begun her journey in the dog world as a junior handler more than 30 years ago. Today, she breeds Toy Manchester Terriers under the internationally recognized Fwaggle prefix.
In Canada, Amanda has piloted her dogs to hundreds of group wins and placements as well as dozens of Best in Shows, Best in Specialty Shows and Best Puppy in Show wins. She has also successfully competed at the breed and group level at such prestigious events as World Dog Shows, the Westminster Kennel Club, the Progressive Toy Dog Club, and AKC Eukanuba/Royal Canin Invitational, as well as national specialties in both Canada and the United States.
