2014 in Review
2014 was definitely one for the record books, bringing a number of personal challenges for our family (including some health scares) as well as many wonderful new memories. As the year comes to an end we are very happy and blessed to report that all of our loved ones are happy, healthy and safe.
From a breeding perspective, it was very quiet, in fact for the first time in many years we didn't have a single litter. We did manage to squeeze in shows in Canada, the US and Finland, however, and are proud that a number of our dogs continued to excel, with wins that included:
We were also thrilled to see six dogs of our breeding inducted into the Canadian and/or American Halls of Fame as well as three new Register of Merit inductees. And for the first year ever, our six new performance titlists out-numbered our two new conformation titlists.
As always, we extend the deepest thanks to all of our friends, owners, co-owners and co-breeders. All of you made this year special, both through your accomplishments with your dogs and the friendship and support you offered personally. As we have in past years, we are pleased to honour the accomplishments of our owners, co-owners and co-breeders below. We know how much hard work goes into competition -- you all deserve the accolades!!!

- 5 All-Breed Best in Shows on two dogs in Canada (Chloe & Frankie)
- Over 50 Group placements (including 19 Group wins) on five dogs in Canada and the United States (Chloe, Frankie, Alice, Fluffy and Quest)

Chloe and Amanda had a pretty thrilling ride this year. In addition to winning 4 Best in Shows, Chloe was awarded 36 group placements in Canada this year, including 12 Group 1sts, making her the the #2 TMT in the country and #15 among all Toy Dogs. She not only did well in Canada, but also earned Select Bitch wins at both Westminster and the US National as well as Best of Breed at the 2014 World Show in Finland over an entry of 60 ETTs. Showing her was a privilege and we are looking forward to seeing what she produces before she returns to California where an agility career awaits. Many thanks go to her co-owners, Christina Caridis and Karen Cornell, for their continued support.

Alice and Arvind had an impressive year, especially considering they took most of the summer off! We are all looking forwarding to Alice's first litter in 2015.

Frankie and Corey were standouts this year, earning titles in Agility, Rally and standard Obedience as well as squeezing in enough shows to finish #3 Toy Manchester in Canada with an All-Breed Best in Show and 18 group placements, including 5 group wins. We're not sure there has ever been a TMT who has amassed such a wide array of titles and accomplishments in a single year! We couldn't possibly be prouder or more grateful to Corey for the wonderful way she represents our breed. Congrats must also go to Frankie's co-breeder, Carolyn Horowitz, without whose generosity there wouldn't have ever been a Frankie. Go team!!!

Quest and Regina were a match made in heaven! Quest is happy and exuberant, and Regina is the perfect person to focus all of that energy into training. Whether for conformation, tricks, rally or, eventually, agility, we're sure this team has a bright future. As one of only two puppies out of our Norwegian ETT import, we're particularly happy that Quest was able to compete successfully in the US, finishing her title relatively quickly and picking up several nice grand champion wins and majors since.

Though this title may not seem significant, it is a feat of absolute wonder for everyone who knows our VERY blonde Finesse. Janice Thompson, who very graciously hosted Fin for a few months to complete her training, deserves all of the credit. It was fantastic as well to see Finesse and Janice's daughter, Alyssa, in Junior Handling and just hanging out the way dogs should. |
