2020 in Review
What a weird year! We had big plans for 2020, but COVID-19 had other things in mind So, though we started the conformation show year off strong, in the end most of the season was cancelled and we were only able to make it to a very few weekends. Even so, we are very proud that Marvin ended 2020 as the #7 Toy Dog in Canada, with two Reserve Best in Shows in as many weekends as well as a fistful of group wins. Not to be outdone, little brother John ended 2020 as the #2 (All-Breed) and #3 (Breed) Toy Manchester in the United States, shown beautifully by his handlers, Ellen and Matt Perry for owners Donna Young and David Horowitz Though his year was interrupted to a large degree, he did manage to win a large specialty in January at Palm Springs and finished strong with Best of Opposite Sex at the AKC/Royal Canin show in Orlando. Finally, a couple of our young dogs made it briefly into the ring, with Shadow managing to finish her American championship piloted by Carol Prykosz and Carolyn Horowitz while Dylan made it into the ring in Canada just one day and picked up a nice Group 2nd and a big Best Puppy in Sweeps from an entry of over 60 promising puppies.
I was super proud of the team effort on the performance side of things as well. Taking advantage of some of the activities designed perfectly for our new socially distanced reality, several of our dogs (and their owners!) earned performance titles. Our new Trick Dog titlists included Dylan, Miley, Buzz and Denzel. Corey and Denzel also picked up three agility titles, Jacquie and Marvin earned a Rally title, and Regina and Quest earned two virtual Nosework titles. As the year draws to a close, we are collectively looking ahead to 2021 and, hopefully, a return to normal. We have a number of promising young dogs coming up, including the lovely young Eclair, a small Standard-bred bitch I am lucky enough to co-own with Carolyn Horowitz. I am also looking forward to a fun journey as a co-owner alongside Corey Titon on Major (Kyon's Legend Has It), a beautiful Norwegian Buhund bred by Karin Klouman. And if we're really lucky, perhaps we may be blessed with the pitter-patter of little paws in 2021. Until then, I send big love, hugs and thanks to all of my friends, co-owners, co-breeders and fellow Manchester fanciers. I hope all of you stay safe and look forward to seeing everyone again.
With love,
Amanda
